Figueiredo: I’ll never forget time at Reds

- By MATT ABBOTT matt.abbott@reachplc.com

NOTTINGHAM Forest centre-back Tobias Figueiredo has paid an emotional farewell to Nottingham Forest after posting a heartfelt message on social media.

The 28-year-old has spent the last fourand-a-half seasons with the Reds, but the defender was last week confirmed by the club as one of three players to leave the City Ground at the end of this month when their contracts expire.

Full-backs Gaetan Bong and Carl Jenkinson are the other two.

Figueiredo made more than 120 appearances for Forest since initially arriving on loan the day before transfer deadline day in January 2018 to play for Aitor Karanka ‘s side.

A century of outings was surpassed last season after the former Portugal youth international made 26 appearances en route to Premier League promotion, but was not called upon from the bench during the play-off campaign. Almost a week after the announcement, Figueiredo has now posted a parting message to the club and Forest fans on social media. “After four and a half intense years, made up of many wins and so precious moments that I will never forget, especially this promotion back to the Premier League, I carry memories from Nottingham Forest that I will keep forever,” Figueiredo’s Instagram post reads. “There are no words that could be suitable to define the gratitude that everyone deserves, for the way I’ve been treated and cherished, how everyone made me feel like one more of your family. To the Nottingham Forest directors and supporters, to all my teammates and coaches that I’ve worked with since my first day in this amazing club a big thank you and best wishes.

“It’s now time to say goodbye, it’s time for a new adventure.”
