Spurs ‘ready to move on’ if Djed deal can’t be agreed
TOTTENHAM Hotspur and Middlesbrough “remain apart” in their valuations of Nottingham Forest target Djed Spence.
The right-back impressed on loan with the Reds last season, playing a pivotal role in helping Steve Cooper’s side earn promotion to the Premier League.
Spence appeared 46 times for Forest, scoring five and assisting five, and formed a strong partnership with Brennan Johnson on the right wing.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move to sign the England Under-21 international, with reports this week claiming ‘further talks’ will take place. Boro are said to want £15 million this summer, but Antonio Conte’s side are only prepared to pay around £10 million.
Whilst Forest have eyed up a couple of alternatives this summer in Liverpool’s Neco Williams and Manchester City’s Issa Kabor, they have received a potential boost in their bid to re-sign Spence.
According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, the two parties “remain apart in their valuations” of the 21-year-old after discussions in London yesterday. The reporter added there remains no agreement and Tottenham are “ready to move on” if a deal fails to be struck.
This could open the door for Cooper’s men to swoop in and land
Spence ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season, for the right price. Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder hinted a Premier League move for the wing-back. He told BBC Radio Tees Sport: “We as a club have to set a fair and reasonable price for that to happen. I’m confident all three parties will get round the table and get this sorted out. ”
