New away kit a nod to all-conquering Forest side of 70s

-

NOTTINGHAM Forest launched their brand new away kit yesterday ahead of their first game back in the Premier League.

A striking - and fashionable yellow strip was released following up on Macron’s new iteration of the famous Garibaldi Red which came out two weeks ago.

There is still no shirt sponsor on the front, though, with a deal struck with BOXT - who manufacture boilers - coming to an end upon the conclusion of the season.

The Reds have opened up a massive avenue for commercial gains following promotion into the top flight and the Post reported at the start of the month the club were in discussions with a few potential partners after the Wembley win last season. Forest’s new away kit will be worn for the first time in today’s friendly with Barnsley up at Oakwell and the club describe the strip as a “dazzling” blue and yellow effort.

‘The yellow and blue design is a throwback to one of Forest’s most iconic away kits; the 1978 strip worn by Kenny Burns and co when we lifted the League Cup at Old Trafford after a replay victory over Liverpool,” Forest said.

Like the striking new red and white home kit, the away strip features the famous ironworks pattern from the legendary Trent Bridge, that thousands of fans cross each day on their journey to The City Ground.

However, the yellow and blue colour scheme allows the ironworks to stand out even more prominently on the sleeves, the shorts and the collar trim.

Pre-ordered kits are expected to be dispatched from Monday. Availability to purchase in-store will be from three days later.

An adult shirt is priced at £59.50 and a junior one at £45. Adult shorts cost £29 and socks £14, junior shorts are £22 and socks £13, with an infant kit priced at £45.
