‘Our greatest striker this century’
NOTTINGHAM Forest supporters have been sending Lewis Grabban their well wishes after it was confirmed that the striker would be leaving the club.
The 34-year-old’s contract expired last month, but talks had been taking place over an extension, and a new deal has not been agreed.
Grabban bows out after lifting the Championship play-off trophy in his final appearance for Forest.
Reds fans believe the forward leaves behind big shoes to fill. Here is a selection of the social media reaction after Grabban’s exit was announced.
Liam Harrison: What a player intelligent and dangerous. In a long list of favourite moments - second leg vs Sheffield United, Grabban is on the pitch with Davis - clearly supporting, coaching and offering guidance. His experience will be missed.
Jonathan Eve: Massive loss. But I understand him wanting regular first team football now he’s healthy. His last contribution was his goal against Derby - forever a Red.
Matt Davey: Leaving on an incredible high at Wembley and then the promotion party overlooking the market square. Amazing player and fantastic servant of the club.
Chris W: We’d still be a Championship club if it wasn’t for Lewis Grabban’s contribution last season...kept us in the race...thank you, Lewis.
Kyle Kirkland: I’m not crying, you are. We say goodbye to, in my opinion, the greatest Forest striker of the 21st century.
Ethan Clarke: One of my favourite players to play at the City Ground. Such a likeable person. Will be missed definitely. I thought he definitely deserved to play in the Premier League one last time but oh well. Farewell, Grabbs.
Ryan Wise: He has been exceptional on and off the pitch! Best striker since Johnson/ Harewood. Wish him all the best and he leaves a legend following promotion.
