AFTER a ‘significant amount’ of Class A substances was seized from him and his car, a Nottingham man has appeared in court.

Nottinghamshire Police were patrolling the Radford area when they spotted a man suspected of being involved in drug-related activity.

Police followed and stopped the man a few minutes later after watching the suspect get out of his car on Highurst Street in Radford.

At around 11.30am on Monday (July 18), several wraps of crack cocaine and heroin were discovered during a search of his car.

A search of a nearby house then led to a large amount of Class A drugs, cash, weighing scales and criminal property being seized.

Elijah Henry, 25, of Moorgate Street in Radford, was charged with four counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of criminal property.

Henry appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he was remanded in custody. He is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on August 8.

Sergeant Matt Daley, of Nottinghamshire Police’s city knife crime team, said: “Thanks to the efforts of our officers, we have been able to take a large amount of dangerous Class A drugs off our streets.

“This was a great example of police teamwork, with our city CID and knife crime teams working swiftly and effectively in tandem to get a positive result in this case.

“As a force, we’re absolutely committed to ridding our streets of drugs, which is why we carry out regular patrols in our communities to help identify this type of offending.

“Drugs can have a devastating impact on people’s lives in so many ways, which is why we take all reports of drug activity that we receive so seriously and will always follow up any intelligence that we receive.

“We have now charged a suspect in connection with this incident and they have now appeared before the courts.”
