A NOTTINGHAM mum is “disgusted” with a children’s hospital after claiming her baby was given food containing milk to which he is allergic.

Elisha Parker took her son Amiro to Nottingham Children’s Hospital on Monday,

July 12, after he experienced breathing difficulties.

They went home, but she took him back the following day, when he was admitted.

The eight-month-old suffers from a milk allergy, and remained in hospital until Friday.

However, on the Friday he experienced an allergic reaction after he was given food. She said: “Amiro has got an allergy to milk and can’t have anything with milk in it.

“I made that very clear, and they were all aware, even down to the catering staff.

“They came to me and asked if Amiro wanted anything to eat and I said yes, but he has a milk allergy and can’t have anything with milk in it.”

Elisha ordered food for her son from the hospital’s food trolley and was given a few options. However, after a few mouthfuls she noticed that Amiro’s face had flared up.

Elisha said: “It affected his eczema, it made him sick and gave him diarrhoea. He was poorly as it was – he did not need anything else adding to the fuel.” Whilst Amiro was still able to go home that day as planned, Elisha said: “It should not have happened. Other parents need to know to check the packages of food. It could have been more serious. “Luckily Amiro was only mildly affected by this, but that’s not the point. “It has made me think completely differently about the NHS. “I’m still shock from happened.” NUH was contacted for comment.
