Night of Clough stories to raise money for Maggie’s
A SPECIAL event celebrating Nottingham Forest’s legendary manager Brian Clough - and raising money for Maggie’s Cancer Centre in Nottingham - is taking place next month.
‘The Green Jumper’ will involve a Q&A session with Nottingham-based author and historian Marcus Alton, who spearheaded the fundraising campaign for the Clough statue in Nottingham.
The charity event will include memories of the times Marcus interviewed the double European Cup-winning manager, as well as exclusive audio recordings.
The special evening, chaired by experienced Nottinghamshirebased event host Neil Kendrick, is part of a series of Cloughie tribute events that Marcus is involved in during 2024.
“The first event proved to be extremely popular and raised nearly £1,000 for a community organisation in Netherfield,” said Marcus. “People, not necessarily all football fans, are always intrigued by Clough stories and there are many new ones to talk about.”
Marcus will be talking about his new book ‘Brian Clough The Lost Tapes’ which is raising money for the Nottinghamshire Hospice and the NSPCC.
The book, published by DB Publishing in Nottinghamshire, lifts the lid on a treasure trove of Clough stories.
Marcus will also be signing copies of the book, which has a foreword by the former Nottingham Forest player and manager Paul Hart.
The event, raising money for Maggie’s Cancer Centre, will be held at Ramsdale Golf Club, Calverton, on Thursday, May 9 (7pm doors for 7.30pm start) and is open to non-members. Tickets are £5 and available by emailing nottingham@maggies.org or neildragon21@hotmail.com
