Big Mike’s ‘kind of’ back – this time selling cheesecakes from home

-

BIG Mike is back with his popular cheesecakes just over a year after closing his shop in Carlton.

Mike Jones first burst onto the scene with the tempting desserts while furloughed from his job during the pandemic. Originally selling them via social media, he went on to open shops in Carlton Hill and Beeston High Road.

However, rising costs made the shops unviable and led to their closure. But the good news is Big Mike is making a welcome return. He’s gone back to making the cheesecakes from his home in his spare time since finding another job.

He announced: “Mike’s back! Well kind of anyway… it’s been strange being away from you all for the last year and I was getting messages all the time from you guys asking ‘When are you coming back Mike?!’

“Well here I am but not as you remember, so hold your horses. I’m back with a small menu of homemade frozen cheesecakes available for collection only from Bingham. Unfortunately, cheesecakes are no longer my only commitment and I do have a job now so please bear with me with me. And also I am sorry to be a pain but no requests other than the menu and size that is available. If any take your fancy drop us a message to order.”

Eight different varieties are available including chocolate orange, strawberry and Lotus Biscoff, each costing £15. Slightly smaller than before, they serve eight. He is only selling whole cheesecakes, unlike the shops where you could pick up a slice.

He was blown away by the response to his post on social media. A woman said: “YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!! My eightyear-old still goes on about your Cookie Monster Cheesecake!”

“Just as I get on my diet properly… thanks mate… I’ll take 6,” said another of his former customers. The cheesecakes can be ordered via his Facebook page Big Mike’s Homemade Cheesecake.
