DUNCAN HAMILTON ROFGO

When two great companies joined forces

-

DUNCAN HAMILTON NEEDS little introduction. Established by the larger-than-life Le Mans-winning driver, the company has traded continuously since 1948. Duncan stepped down in the mid-’70s and his son Adrian took it over at a time when both classic cars and historic racing really started to gather momentum in both popularity and value. Adrian is widely recognised as one of the founders of the success of the sector and has been responsible for the sale of more Ferrari 250 GTOs and Ford GT40s than anyone else in the classic car market.

Adrian is now Chairman of the recently established Duncan Hamilton Rofgo Limited. Drawing on the long established reputation of its founder company, Adrian’s fellow directors Simon Drabble, Nick Maton and Jack Tetley continue to curate the Collection as well as globally sourcing competition and classic cars for collectors and historic racing drivers. Each brings their own assets to the table, Simon drawing on 20 years of historic racing and a lengthy career in the City, Nick spending his whole working life in the car industry as well as being instrumental in working with Adrian in locating many of the cars now in the ROFGO Collection. Jack joined the team from Goodwood where he was responsible for content of the three meetings and was a key player in establishing the Members’ Meeting. In fact, he continues to assist with compiling the entrants for the meetings.

In the relatively short time that the team has worked together, it has successfully sourced and sold many leading competition cars, including four Ford GT40s plus several Formula 1 and factory Group C cars, as well as becoming the leading dealer of period competition Jaguar E-types. Trends develop and the team has been a driving force in establishing interest in world championship rally cars as well as being the principal market maker for more diverse cars such as Gordon Murray’s LCC Rocket!

‘The market has changed considerably over the last four decades with the rise of the internet creating an increasingly commoditised market and a generally more informed audience,’ says Simon Drabble. ‘Due diligence has never been more important, and we now see our role more as a multi-family office dealing in a single asset class than as a car trader.’

In 2017 Duncan Hamilton Rofgo celebrated 70 years of successful trading in classic and competition cars and, whether it’s satisfying a long- held dream to own a classic car, or the desire to create a world- class collection like ROFGO, no- one is better placed to research, discover and secure the cars of your dreams.

ln the last 12 months, for example, the company has placed many significant cars into new collections, drawing on the vast experience and connections it has built up over those 70 years of trading.

lf you have an interesting car to sell or you would like Duncan Hamilton Rofgo to find a specific car – or collection! – then please do not hesitate to contact the sales team. For the full current stock-list, please visit the website at dhrofgo.com.
