Cool off with homemade iced tea

There are few more refreshing drinks for a summer’s day than homemade iced tea, and it’s as easy to make as it is flavoursome. Brew your tea as normal and allow it to chill. Then, add some ice, fresh orange and lime juice, a few orange slices and some crushed mint leaves. What you’re left with is a beautifully refreshing drink with absolutely no added sugars.

Mix up potato salad

It wouldn’t be a British barbecue without a potato salad, would it? If you’re after something a little different, try mixing it up with smoked mackerel. Boil new potatoes, and add in a mixture of crème fraîche, spinach, lemon juice and horseradish sauce with shredded smoked mackerel for a delicious twist on a classic summer salad.

Munch on multigrain

Enjoy some nibbles in the sunshine while the food sizzles away on the barbecue by snacking on a packet of Sunbites. These delicious, wavy snacks are bursting with wholegrains and natural flavours – perfect for a sunny afternoon.

Knock up a super-fruit salad

In search of a healthier way to round off that barbecue? If you’re looking to combine all sorts of vitamins and minerals in a single dish, opt for strawberries and blueberries, which contain Vitamin C, and add watermelon and cherries for a smattering of other nutrients. Even better: all of them are in season right now, so you can enjoy them at their sweetest.
