From your base in the charming ‘Blue Flag’ resort of Isla, on the Cantabrian Coast, with its charming collection of pristine beaches – enjoy visits to the city of San Sebastian, with its spectacular beachfront and beguiling old quarter, and thriving Bilbao, with entrance to the famous Guggenheim Museum. You can also explore La Rioja, home to some of Spain’s most celebrated wines, and, on optional excursions, discover elegant Santander and French playground Biarritz.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1 Fly to Bilbao

Day 2 Join a guided tour of foodie San Sebastián and visit La Concha, the crescentshaped beach, before wandering along the pretty narrow streets of the Old Town and across the river to the elegant Gros district. Day 3 Enjoy a free day at the hotel or head out to explore the famous bays of Isla Playa with their golden sands, clear waters and lush green landscapes.

Day 4 Discover the great Basque city of Bilbao, where you can stroll through the old town of Casco Viejo before making your way to the remarkable Frank Gehry-designed Guggenheim Museum of modern art.

Day 5 Join an optional excursion to Biarritz, where you will cross the border into southwest France, passing through the pretty foothills of the Pyrenees to the glamorous seaside resort.

Day 6 Journey into La Rioja wine region, famous across the world for its rich reds, fine whites and crisp rosés. The first stop is Haro, where you will visit one of its historic bodegas for a wine tasting.

Day 7 Choose to enjoy your final day relaxing in Isla Playa, or join the optional tour to Santander, a delightful city boasting the superb El Sardinero beach resort, as well as a beautifully restored old town and the stunning peninsula of La Magdalena.

Day 8 Return flight to the UK.
