If you’re used to always pairing wine with your food, why not try Birrificio Angelo Poretti’s range of distinctive, palate-cleansing beers – each the perfect match to a delicious homemade meal

-

It’s been 140 years since beer enthusiast Angelo Poretti travelled the length and breadth of Austria, Bohemia and Bavaria in search of the best beverage he could find. And his adventures left such a strong impression on him that he threw himself straight into brewing his own beer when he returned home to northern Italy.

Of course, a lot has changed since then, but Angelo’s unwavering commitment and desire to create quality, authentic beer continues. To this day the brewery in Varese, a small town north of Milan, stands on the same site as the one he founded all those years ago, and every drop of beer is still brewed using the same beautifully fresh water from the Campo dei Fiori massif.

The Birrificio Angelo Poretti range’s most impressive feat, however, is its potential to invigorate your eating and drinking experience. While wine has long been the go-to for food pairing, for some, this can be a choice that’s steeped in tradition rather than taste. Unlike some wines, which can feel like they coat the tongue, beer resets the palate, so you can better savour the distinct flavours of a recipe.

Each of the nine Poretti beers has the power to enhance dishes in different ways. Made with only the finest ingredients, each beer is named after the number of hops incorporated in the brewing process – Birrificio Angelo Poretti No 4, for example, features four kinds. So, whether you prefer to go for one of its light-bodied lagers or a fragrant and fruity saison, try a Birrificio Angelo Poretti with your next meal to discover just what a perfect match it can be.
