We must help police catch this mugger

-

LAST week, a mugger snatched hundreds of pounds from a 68-year-old woman at a cash machine in Ormskirk town centre.

It happened in broad daylight, and to think the thief had the gall to approach the woman and take £300 from her is both unsettling and angering in equal measure.

Some faith in humanity is restored, however, by the fact that a kind couple stepped in to try and help the woman.

The mugger has not yet been tracked down, with police inquiries ongoing.

In February, another woman was robbed at the same cash machine.

This is a sad state of affairs, and we can’t stress enough how important it is to be vigilant when using any cash machines. Always cover the keypad when inputting your pin number, and if someone tries to draw your attention, be aware of your surroundings and finish your transaction before responding.

Police are trying to track down the couple who stepped in to help, as they may be able to assist them, and we at the Advertiser would also like to speak to the two, who displayed bravery and kindness.

Let’s come together and support our local police force in this matter; if you have any information that you think may be of even the slightest help, get in touch with them.

Ormskirk is a place of so many positives; we are lucky to live in such a wonderful corner of the country, and we simply cannot let a minority spoil things for everyone.

Let’s show people that we as a town simply will not accept such behaviour.
