VOLUNTEERS at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation store in Ormskirk have issued a desperate appeal after flooding has ruined

The shop, which opened a mere five days ago (June 9) has had its stock ruined by water damage, not only on the shop floor but also in the store room.

On the day of the opening, which was an already bustling market day, customers queued outside in eager anticipation.

Wioletta Borawska, senior management accountant at the foundation, cut the ribbon and welcomed customers.

She said, “The Ormskirk shop opening was a really successful day; the constant flow of custom generated a fantastic £1,800.

“It’s very unfortunate that the shop has flooded so soon after opening.”

Mike Grundy, director of corporate and retail services, said, “The local community in Ormskirk has been incredibly supportive and I would like to personally thank everyone who has helped us during this time.

“If anyone could kindly donate any unwanted items, we would be really grateful as this will help to make up for the stock we have lost.”

After much hard work the Ormskirk store is now back in business, but staff say they urgently need to generate new donations in order to compensate for the damaged stock.

The shop in Aughton Street is open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, and closed on Sundays.
