ORMSKIRK’S heavy fixtures schedule didn’t faze Matt Glayzer and his side after they claimed victory at the weekend.

Saturday’s match against Bootle CC ended in victory for Ormskirk but Sunday’s clash against New Brighton was abandoned after play began.

Glayzer was pleased with his side’s performance on the weekend and is already looking ahead to what could be an even busier week for Ormskirk over the next few days.

“It was a good game. The contest highlighted the standard of the league and we were pleased with the victory.

“Our game against New Brighton (on Sunday) was abandoned after 24 overs and we were all disappointed we had to stop.

“Before the stop it seemed evenly balanced and nobody was really dominating.”

Ormskirk take on Leigh tonight before returning to play more league fixtures on Saturday and Sunday.

Glayzer believes Thursday’s fixture could be one of their toughest encounters so far but is still confident in his side’s ability.

“They’re top of the league and are a good side. We’ll be expecting a tough game.

“If we perform the way we should do though then I’m confident we can push them and hopefully get a result out of the game.

“We just need to do our best this week in all our matches and see what happens.”

The captain insisted the busy schedule won’t affect the level of performance from Ormskirk and is expecting a full squad for his side’s games this week too.

“Hopefully the schedule won’t affect our performances, especially on Sunday after playing all the other games.

“We’re fairly used to it now though because we often play during the week and again on Saturday and sometimes on Sunday too.

“We should be unchanged from last week too so we’ll have a full squad to choose from.”
