Family pay tribute after 20-year-old killed in bike smash

THE family of a motorcycli­st who died after an accident in West Lancashire have paid tribute to him.

John Francis Dalton, 20, was found with multiple injuries close to Tawd Vale campsite on July 20.

Mr Dalton’s family have paid tribute to him and thanked an offduty doctor who stopped at the scene to try and save him.

Police believe Mr Dalton, who was riding a Yamaha motorbike, collided with a lorry, driven by an 41-year-old Ormskirk man, travelling in the opposite direction. They are appealing for witnesses.

THE family of a motorcycli­st who died following a collision in West Lancashire have paid tribute to him.

The emergency services were called to Course Lane, near Burscough, at around 10.15pm on Wednesday last week, following reports of an accident.

A 20-year-old man was found with multiple injuries close to the entrance to the Tawd Vale campsite.

He was treated by an off-duty doctor who stopped at the scene, and by paramedics, but later died.

The victim has now been named as John Francis Dalton, 20, from Standish.

Police believe Mr Dalton, who was riding a Yamaha motorbike, collided with a lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

Mr Dalton’s family have paid tribute to him and thanked the off-duty doctor who stopped at the scene to try and save him. They also thanked police and paramedics, who attended.

The family tribute read: “There are no words to describe the pain and devastatio­n we feel as a family. John Francis Dalton was a loving son and brother, with his whole life ahead of him.

“He was full of life and enthusiasm and always made us laugh. He was warm and kind-hearted and liked by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

“We want to thank everyone for their kind words of support at this difficult time and we would also wish to thank the police and paramedics, including an offduty doctor who was driving behind the accident, for all their help trying to save John at the scene that night. This tragic accident has left a hole in the heart of our family that can never be filled.”

man from Ormskirk , was uninjured. The road was closed for more than four hours while accident investigat­ors attended the scene.

Sgt James Power, of Lancashire Police, said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with this man’s family at this time.

“We are appealing for informatio­n following the collision and would be keen to speak to anyone with informatio­n.

“We would be particular­ly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorbike in the area before the incident.”
