Boost mobile coverage with a trip to your local

WEST Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is encouraging rural community hubs, such as pubs, village halls and community venues to apply to Vodafone’s indoor mobile coverage scheme.

The new scheme is aimed at providing a service to those communities currently in a ‘mobile not spot’ with up to 100 venues able to benefit from Vodafone’s scheme.

Through the Community Indoor Sure Signal (CISS) programme, rural community venues can access reliable indoor 3G voice and data coverage.

Ms Cooper said: “Mobile technology plays an ever greater part in our day-to-day lives, whether catching up on the news, accessing bank services, keeping in touch with family and friends or calling a taxi to get home.

“As coverage can still be limited in rural communities, this new scheme is one way for community venues to improve access to the mobile network for local residents.

“I would encourage all those rural community venues in West Lancashire who believe their users, customers and local residents would benefit from this service, to apply.”

To access the service a venue will need to have an unlimited broadband package with download speeds of 4Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps and a domestic plug-in power point. The CISS unit simply plugs into a standard fixed broadband router to provide mobile coverage throughout a building, hall or shop.
