Girl power sees a seasonal high

THERE was double success for Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton at the Mid-Lancs meeting held at Ormskirk on Saturday, with both male and female teams finishing in first place.

It was however, the girls who lead the way with a points total of 225, the highest in the league this season.

The high jumpers secured first place in no fewer that 7 age groups thanks to Billy Williams (SM) 1.85m, Debbie Dasse (SW) 1.56m, Kai Finch (U17) 1.95m, Jorden Pilkington (U17) 1.53m, Owen Southern (U15) 1.75m, Sadie McNulty (U15) 1.50m and Sandy Clarkson (U13) 1.52m.

Ruth Doran (SW) completed a throws double winning the shot (10.31m) and hammer (34.05m), while Jenny Pyatt (SW) won the discus with a throw of 41.97m and Alex Bunclark the shot with 9.09m.

Not to be outdone the boys had a double success in the javelin with Ben Harding (SM) 41.84m and Will Hynd (U17M)46.95m.

Alice Prescott (U15) won the long jump with a leap of 4.83m, while Martha Simms (4.10m) and Zara Bradshaw (4.06m) made it a 1/2 at U13 level.

On the track, Jonathon Bride (2:00.8) & Jack Crook (2:02.1) made it a 1-2 in the senior men’s 800m race, as did Ross Harrison (2:06.9) and Glenn Sherwin (2:07.2) in the U17 race, with Mark Roberts (2:23.5) winning the U13 age group.

Lucy Townson SW was a comfortabl­e winner in the 400m (60.6) as was Holly Rylance (U17) in the 1500m (5:35.6).

In the sprints, Lauren Lewis U15) won both the 100m (12.9) and 200m (26.4) in convincing style, with Abigael Bamber successful in U13 100m (13.6)

To complete a successful day, both U13G and U15G won their 4 x 100m relays.
