FROM the Chelford Review, w/c July 25. CATTLE All cattle selling on a very fast trade, best heifers very scarce and topping at 252p/kg for Messrs Wilcock.

Steers to a creditable 236p/ kg for Brian Taylor and head ages to £1,304 (heifers) from Messrs Wilcock and £1,279 (steers) from Margaret Blackwell.

More of those best clean could have been easily handled today, accordingl­y everything else found another gear, as a result plenty of Prime Cattle in the mid-late 190’s per kilo.

Messrs Wilcock topped the bulls with Limousin x to 209 and 205p/kg, anything shapey with loin was hotly contested to 170 odd, weighty and plainer bulls were a little harder work but as always, we’re grateful for everything! POULTRY Families as usual topped the highest prices with a Gold Tap hen and 14 Guinea fowl keets selling for £54 (and the vendor tells me every week the prices are on the way down). Another family of Muscovy duck and 13 ducklings sold for £32 and a Black Rock hen and 13 chicks £28.

Embden gosling three weeks sold well at £7 per head. Bronze Turkey poulets 12 weeks sold for £7, Trio chocolate Muscovy ducks sold for £8. PIGS Porker £101.61 average, cutter £111.45 average, baconer £99.18 average. SHEEP Super trade again, however, with plenty of lambs well over 200p/kg, and 27 pens over 220p/kg, to a top of 262p for the best pen of Helen Heath’s run, just pipping her fellow female producer Jackie Trueman to the top spot, her best pen, of 44.3 kg, making 258p/kg. EGGS Free Range £1, duck £2.50, medium £1.60, Guinea fowl £1.80, goose £1.60. FRUIT AND VEG Cauliflowe­r x 6 £5, cabbage x 8 £2, leeks x 10lb £4.50 webb x 12 £2.50, bunched carrots £1.40, peas x 10lb, £6, bunch beetroot 90p, Savoy x 6 £2.25, broad bean x 5kg £4, kohl rabi 50p. STOCKFEED Rolled Barley £3.75, Hay £2, Barley £33.50, Barley Straw £2.75, Rolled Oats £3.50.
