Motoring gem set to guest at Motorfest
AVERY special guest is set to attend Ormskirk MotorFest over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Former Top Gear presenter Steve Berry will commentate on the parade laps at the motoring extravaganza and will also be one of the judges in the Concours d’Elegance contest that will feature some of the most eye-catching vehicles at the MotorFest.
Ormskirk MotorFest is organised by Aintree Circuit Club and supported by West Lancashire Borough Council.
Steve said: “I was a spectator at the Ormskirk MotorFest last year and I was really impressed that so many people turned out to enjoy it.
“What I really like about Motorfest is the fantastic variety of cars on display. A lot of motoring events specialise in certain vehicles, but at MotorFest there is everything ranging from classic sports cars to bubble cars, and the fact that it is free makes it even better.
“Aintree Circuit Club does a great job organising the event and it’s great that the council is so supportive.”
Steve was a presenter on Top Gear for 10 years and one of the highlights for him included driving a rare racing Jaguar worth £1.7m.
Steve became involved in MotorFest through his friend Sean Bramhall, who owns Steve’s dream car.
He said: “I have been a motoring journalist for 30 years so I am lucky to have been able to pursue my passion getting a real job.
“A passion for cars runs in my family as my grandfather was the commissioner for highways for Lancashire Police, and like him I particularly love British cars.
“Sean has a 1950s Jaguar XK which was the fastest road car in the world when it was built and Sean has let me drive it on a number of occasions.
“It’s a fantastic combination of style and performance and hopefully it will be on display at MotorFest.”
The Ormskirk MotorFest will see more than 300 cars and motorcycles on display in town centre streets and Coronation Park, and many vehicles will take part in parade laps.
Aintree Circuit Club chairman, Mike Ashcroft, said: “Steve has fantastic knowledge of motoring and having him commentating and involved in judging for the Concours d’Elegance makes him a great addition to this year’s MotorFest team.”
