16 minus four equals an A
AMATHS whizkid at Scarisbrick Hall School has received an outstanding GCSE A grade - after taking the exam four years early.
Myah Malik, 12, from Maghull, received the grade after showing extreme promise in maths thanks to the academic background of her mother and grandfather.
Myah was encouraged by her family to have extra tuition and take the exam early.
She returns to school in Year 8 this week as one of the youngest people in the country to achieve an A in GCSE.
Myah, who lives with her mother Nuray Kazandi, father Amrit Malik, and 11-year-old brother, Veron, has always been encouraged to work hard.
Her father, who cares full-time for Veron, who has cerebral palsy, said: “As parents we are extremely proud of what Myah has achieved with an A in her maths GCSE at such an early age. We have always encouraged Myah to follow her passion, like musicians reading music, Myah has an ability and gift to read maths.”
Scarisbrick Hall head Jeff Shaw said: “We are delighted that Myah has achieved an A grade in her GCSE mathematics in Year 7. Myah is a very focused young lady who has a natural flair for mathematics.
“She has worked tremendously hard in her studies and has a real drive to achieve ambitious goals.”
Mr Malik added: “Myah wanted to set herself a challenge in Year 5 to sit her GCSE in Year 6 but realising she wanted to do the higher paper we waited another year so she could be more prepared.”
