ORMSKIRK Beer, Food and Wine Festival will take place this weekend and tickets have almost sold out.

Those attending the event over this weekend of September 23-25 will not be disappointed as organisers have planned a day of live entertainment and activities, as well as an abundance of fantastic food and drink.

The event, run by Ormskirk Cricket Club and The Cricketers pub in Ormskirk, aims to showcase the best that Ormskirk has to offer.

Manager of The Cricketers pub, David Speak, said that this weekend’s cloudy forecast won’t dampen the event: “We have a lot of shelter so we are hoping people won’t be put off by the weather, whatever it may be. We have a lot for people to try, food and drink from more than 20 local providers. We are hoping for sun so that people can enjoy their drinks outside.”

A 60-foot bar, with 60 handpulled real ales, will be available, as well as a wine bar.

Gin lovers have not been forgotten with a gin bar offering more than 10 artisan gins over the weekend.

The list of businesses signed up to participate is still growing but there are already lots of local eateries signed up.

Currently on the bill is The Cricketers, The Ship at Lathom, The Blue Mallard, Source Deli, Derby House Catering, Tipsy Rice, Infusions, Roberts & Co Coffee, Artisan Foodworks, Fiesta Tex, Perfect Samosa, DareUFoods, GastroGrub Hub, Nice Spice, Gingerbread Ormskirk Community Partnership, Ormskirk Gin, Holborns Wine Merchants and TopThat wood-fired pizzas.

The event is celebrating its second year and organisers are hoping they can top last year’s attendance.

This year there will also be a family day on Sunday with bouncy castles, games and lots of activities for children to enjoy.

David added: “The Sunday is a lot more family orientated. We will have lots for the kids to do and plenty of activities to keep them entertained throughout the day.

“We’re sure they won’t be disappointed with the food either.”

The event runs from 5pm this Friday night, from 11am-10pm on Saturday and 11am-7pm on Sunday. The food market is open from 11am-7pm on Saturday and Sunday.

There will also be live music from local artists all weekend.
