Designed by the worldfamous Aardman studios, Dusty Duck will make his debut at the centre on October 7

Dusty has been designed exclusively for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust by Aardman studios to celebrate WWT’s 70th anniversary.

And it’s not just one Dusty appearing at Martin Mere this autumn until January 8, there are 14 giant Dusty Ducks for the public to discover on a special trail, each designed by a celebrity, including a range of CBBC and CBeebies stars based at Salford’s media city.

A spokeperson for WWT Martin Mere said: “Martin Mere’s autumn and winter highlight is the launch of the new Celebrity Dusty Duck Trail to celebrate WWT’s 70 anniversary. Dusty, along with 14 giant celebrity designed models are scheduled to land at Martin Mere in October. Dusty is on an exciting adventure, exploring and trying new things and, of course, making friends along the way!”

The six-foot-tall Dusty, made with the kind help of the famous Aardman studios, and celebrities including Steve Backshall’s Explorer Dusty, Smarked’s (CBBC’s Sam and Mark’s) Tiger Dusty and Joanna Lumley’s Absolutely Fabulous Patsy Dusty, all form part of a specially created new trail launching this Saturday and running until Sunday, January 8.

The new attraction forms part of the centre’s winter activities which also include the Pumpkin Festival, from October 22 - 31 and the swan spectacular, every day from October 22, when up to 2,000 Whooper swans will feed on the Mere.
