AJUSTGIVING page set up for a schoolgirl who was seriously injured in a collision in Burscough has raised thousands of pounds for her and her family.

The appeal for Georgia Addy was set up by a local resident and passed it’s £500 fundraising limit in a matter of hours, going above £4,000 earlier this week.

The 15-year-old was involved in the collision on Moss Lane, the main A59 towards Rufford, between 3.30pm and 4pm before she was airlifted to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital shortly after.

Georgia suffered severe head injuries and was placed into an induced coma.

The 28-year-old driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.

Georgia’s father Stephen posted on Facebook to update those concerned on her condition.

He said: “Georgia is now out of the intensive care unit and on a specialist neurological ward. I am by her bed as she sleeps.”

Stephen would also like to extend his thanks to all those who have sent them messages of support.

Nardia Stevenson set up the page in order to help the family with hotel and food costs while they are by Georgia’s side.

She says on the page: “As a local resident please help me to show our support as a community and help the family when they need it the most.”

Sharon Addy, Georgia’s mother is urging anyone who saw anything that may help to come forward.

Sergeant Adam Dawson, of the Lancashire Roads Policing Unit, said: “This incident has left a teenage girl with serious injuries and we are now trying to piece together exactly what happened.

“Maybe you saw the girl or the van in the moments before the collision, or maybe you saw the incident unfold.

“If you have any information, however small, we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.

“We would also like to thank the local residents who assisted the emergency services at the scene.”

Anybody with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 920 of September 21.
