PEOPLE are being invited to give their views on plans to merge King George V College and Southport College.

A consultation document outlining the plan has been made available to the public.

Southport College principal John Clarke said: “Between the two sites we have a substantial curriculum offering and our vision is to be recognised locally as the first choice for higher level academic and vocational courses.

“This year’s advanced level results place KGV College and Southport College amongst the top performing colleges in the country. We believe that with the quality of education and support we offer there should be no reason for students to look outside of the Southport area when considering post 16 options.”

King George V College’s acting principal, AnneMarie Francis, said: “Each and every year our students gain qualifications that allow them to progress on to exciting and aspirational destinations.

“Our previous students have studied at universities across the world and many have successful careers as accountants, doctors, commercial pilots, engineers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, successful their business owners and more.”

The partnership will mean investment in centres of excellence on both college sites, starting with a centre of excellence in science this month.

You can pick up a copy of the consultation document at the colleges’ upcoming Open Event which will take place at Southport College on Monday, October 17.

Alternatively a copy can be found at www.kgv.ac. uk or www.southport.ac. uk
