Dance for Dreams is a huge hit for Hannah

HANNAH Lyson’s ‘Dance for Dreams’ party proved a massive hit last weekend – with only nine days of planning behind it.

The event, organised by Burscough DJ Joe Murphy, was planned in under two weeks in aid of Hannah’s Bowel Cancer Journey .

Hannah, 19, has been battling bowel cancer since May and the massive party was planned in her honour and to raise money for her cause.

Joe Murphy decided to plan the event with the help of the community and it quickly escalated into one of the biggest parties ever held in Burscough.

The mammoth 14-hour bash was held in a marquee, donated by Elite Marques Ltd, at Swallow House Farm on Red Cat Lane.

Filled to capacity all day the event saw performances from local dance groups, singers and DJ Joe himself.

Food was supplied and everything from the tablecloths to the bar was donated by local residents and business owners.

Joe told the Visiter: “It went perfectly. We sold out and were filled to capacity all day. The entertainment and food went down a storm and the whole day just went textbook.

“Considering we only had nine days to plan this, it went smoothly thanks to everyone’s help.”

Hannah was able to attend the party and took to Facebook to tell everyone what an amazing time she had and to thank Joe for everything he has done for her.

She said: “I’d like to thank each and every one of you who turned up yesterday, it was an absolute ‘dream come true! I cannot thank Joe enough! He is one of a kind, for someone who had never met me before to put an event on like that for me is pure kindness.

“I’ve never experienced anything like it seeing as I never had an important birthday party like my 16th or 18th, so to have this whole event for me has completely overwhelmed me.

“Not to mention the fact people were raising money for me to go to Disney, which again has baffled me because the event would have been enough. It was just that amazing!

“Every single part of the event was perfect and made the past month in hospital seem a lot less painful and upsetting.”

Photographer Matthew Laraway of LARAMEDIA will be releasing a short film of footage from the event.

Joe added: “Doing this for Hannah didn’t even require a second thought. She is an amazing young woman and she deserved every minute of it.

“I knew the people of Burscough could be supportive but this event just shows what the community can do for one of their own.”
