Drug farm owner to pay back nearly £50k
AN ORMSKIRK man has been ordered to pay back nearly £50,000 from criminal dealings.
Paul Guy appeared at Liverpool Crown Court, where he was ordered to pay the amount back under a confiscation order.
On July 3, 2015, Ormskirk neighbourhood police team found 46 cannabis plants at his home in Ormond Avenue in Westhead.
The 62-year-old was summoned to appear at Liverpool Crown Court where he was convicted and given a suspended jail sentence.
A subsequent investigation into his finances found large amounts of cash being deposited in his bank account.
After he was unable to prove where the money came from, police launched an investigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
The court subsequently found that he had made a total of £49,557.50 form his criminal activities.
If Guy fails to pay the full amount within six months, he will be imprisoned for nine months as well as still having to pay the money.
A Lancashire police spokesperson said: “We are very pleased with the result of this conviction.
“A subsequent prosecution can only be obtained by the hard work that the officers put into the case.
“We’re committed to tackling these crimes in this manner and a financial investigation will always follow.”
