The big switch-on A feast of festive fun at the Wharf
BURSCOUGH Wharf is setting the stage for its Christmas Lights switch-on tomorrow.
The festive fun will begin in the courtyard at 4.45pm on Friday, November 25, with musical entertainment from the Ukes At The Wharf and local duo Alex and Livvy Karalius.
Throughout the evening visitors will be able to feast on a choice of seasonal street food, including a hog roast, crepes, hotdogs and mulled wine for the adults.
For the youngsters there will be live reindeer and the chance to sit in Father Christmas’s sleigh and mewt his elves, and of course no Christmas at the Wharf would be complete without a free visit to see Santa in his grotto.
This year, Father Christmas has a new home on the first floor in the Arts Centre where children can have their pictures taken by resident photographers Fat Badger, and receive a gift.
The grotto will be open between 5pm – 8pm.
Burscough Wharf’s site manager, Ray Eckersley said: “We’re excited about this year’s Christmas fun, we have had many new outlets opening up recently, including a new sweet shop – the Candy Chest, a hair extensions salon – Blush and most recently a new cocktail bar - Jack & Gin, so there’s going to be a great atmosphere. The lights will be switched on at 6.30pm by our Christmas fairies so we’re encouraging families to come along and join our festive celebrations.”
The team from 102.4 Wish FM will be taking part throughout the evening, chatting to visitors with live links to the presenters - you could be live on air.
