WHY not be part of the Lancashire Day celebrations this weekend?
If you were born between the river Duddon to the north and the river Mersey to the south you are offically a Lancastrian. This is because no legislation changed the county boundaries.
Here are some of the events you can enjoy:
A quiz is to be held at The New Fleetwood House, Hoole Lane, Banks, on Thursday, November 24, from 7pm, with free hot pot supper. Call 01704 569794.
The official Southport Town Crier Darryl Counsell will read out the proclamation in Chapel Street at noon on Saturday, November 26. The Lancashire Day Proclamation will be read by Town Crier Don Evans at noon on Saturday, November 26 in the Market Place.
Celebrate Lancashire Day at The Hop Vine in Liverpool Road, when local independent brewer Burscough Brewery’s Duke of Lancaster ale will be selling for just £2 a pint.
Join in the Lancashire Day Proclamation at 9pm to The Queen, Duke of Lancaster.

Celebrate Lancashire Day in The Barons Bar at the Scarisbrick Hotel in Lord Street with a selection of Lancashire beers from Moorhouses, Southport and Lancaster independent breweries at £2.10 per pint.

The Grasshopper bar in Sandon Road, Hillside, will be dedicating this day to two great Lancastrian lasses – Jean Alexander (1926-2016) and Victoria Wood (1953– 2016).
Guests can also enjoy Lancashire hotpot, a fun themed quiz, the Lancashire Day proclamation, and a toast to the Duke of Lancaster.
All proceeds from raffle quiz and food will be donated to the Hillside Christmas Decorations Fund.
Raffle prizes include a large luxury hamper of local goodies, a hamper of Lancashire ales, two tickets for a Southport Football Club match, or two tickets for a cricket fixture at S&B in Southport.
