ADOCTOR has spoken of her horror at being injured – along with her two dogs – in a frenzied attack by two lurchers in Southport.

Sharryn Gardner, a children’s A&E consultant at Ormskirk Hospital, was walking Bo and Ringo in the field at the cemetery, in Liverpool Road, Ainsdale, at around 6.45am last Friday.

The medic said there appeared to be around four lurcher-type dogs, one called JJ.

She said: “The owner had two on a lead and the two off the lead attacked.”

The attack left some nasty injuries.

She said: “One dog (Ringo) had his neck ripped open and muscles damaged, and one had his back ripped open. They were thrown around like rag dolls.

“They kept coming for Ringo so I ended up lying over him, covering every little bit of him. Then they gave up and went for Bo who had run away.

“I had head wounds, arm and leg wounds.”

“Bo’s back leg has a severe wound.’’

She added: “They have both spent the afternoon in surgery at the vets and are severely traumatised.

“Two dogs attacked them – one called JJ, and another. The owner tried to get the dog off but had two others on the lead and couldn’t. I have head wounds, arm bruising and leg wounds and injuries to my right hand.

“Please help me find the attackers as we are all badly injured and will be terrified of going out again.

“Thank you to the person, I don’t know who, who rang the police.”

IF YOU have any further information about the attack, please phone Southport Police on 101.
