ATHREE-DAY Christmas food and drink market is being planned for Burscough by DJ and organiser Joe Murphy.

The massive event will be held at Burscough Cricket Club on December 9, 10 and 11 in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Held in a marquee, the event will be able to hold 600 people across the three-day event.

Those interested in attending will be treated to up to 50 market stalls making the event the first of this size in the area.

Organiser Joe Murphy told the Advertiser: “This is going to be a first for Burscough.

“Never has a Christmas event of this magnitude been held in the town and we know we can absolutely smash it.”

An array of themed bars will be available at the event including a cocktail bar and a prosecco and champagne bar.

Real ale fans will also be catered for and gin lovers won’t be left out either.

The marquee – supplied by Elite Marquees – will be split into two sections – the market side which will include all the food and drink stalls, and the entertainment side which will host many local talents yet to be announced.

A proportion of the proceeds will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust after the event.

Joe said: “Not only are we trying to give something new to the people of Burscough but we’re doing it for a good cause.

“The Teenage Cancer Trust supports so many young people, including Burscough’s own Hannah Lyson, and we want to support them for everything they do.”

Santa Claus and his elves will be in attendance at the event and visitors will be able to have their picture taken with the magnificent Christmas tree the organisers have obtained for the event.

Event organising is a unique skill of the Burscough DJ, having previously succeeded in a mammoth Dance for Dreams party organised for Burscough cancer fighter Hannah.

In October, with just nine days planning behind it, Joe was able to pull off one of the biggest events ever held in Burscough.

More than 500 people attended the event at Swallow House Farm on Red Cat Lane to support Hannah.
