ORMSKIRK-BORN comedian and impressionist Jon Culshaw will be returning to his home to preview his new tour, The Great British Take Off.

The ‘in conversation’ evening will be performed by Jon featuring Dead Ringers creator and producer Bill Dare on March 3 next year.

Jon is well known for his work on the radio comedy Dead Ringers.

He has voiced a number of characters for ITV shows including 2DTV, Spitting Image and Newzoids, as well as appearing in The Impression show alongside Debra Stephenson since 2009.

Jon was educated at St Bede’s RC High School and began his radio career in hospital radio in Ormskirk.

Being born and raised in Ormskirk has made Jon an avid supporter of the Civic Hall and it is understandable that he would bring the preview of The Great British Take Off to his home town.

Director of the civic hall, Liz Wainwright, said: “Jon’s show will be a great addition to the Civic’s What’s On calendar and we are sure people will be very excited to get their tickets.”

The Ormskirk Civic Hall is one of Councillor Liz Savage’s Mayoral Charities and she has spent this year attempting to raise the profile of the Civic and keep it full of people.

Liz Wainwright added: “Jon has always been a big fan of the Civic Hall and we hope that his show will bring more people in the doors, perhaps for the very first time.

“We are trying to increase our attendance and show the people of Ormskirk all the diverse and varied uses of the hall.

“Jon and Bill’s show will not only show the Civic in its true light but show it off for what it means to many people in the town.”

The show is completely unscripted and according to Liz it will have quite an intimate feel to it.

The ‘in conversation‘ theme will be exactly that – with Jon wanting the audience to feel comfortable and relaxed.

Tickets are available from www. seetickets.com THE Right Reverend Paul Bayes, Bishop of Liverpool will be at Ormskirk Parish Church’s annual Toy Service on Sunday, December 11.

The Bishop will be preaching at the family friendly service where toys are collected and donated to families in need across the region.

All are welcome to the service which will start at 10.30am and is part of the parish’s annual programme in the run-up to Christmas.

Bishop Paul visited the town before his installation as Bishop of Liverpool two years ago, when he toured Edge Hill University and dropped in on Ormskirk West End Juniors football club.

Rev Stuart Haynes from the parish church said: “We’re looking forward to the Bishop’s visit and are delighted that he can come for our toy service.

“One of the big differences we can make as Christians is showing others the joy that the Christmas message offers.

“Our toy service enables us to bring that joy to others.

“Bishop Paul spreads a message of joy to all he meets and it is great we can share Sunday’s service with him.”

All are welcome at the service.
