BURSCOUGH cancer battler Hannah Lyson has updated her Facebook followers of her condition in the runup to her birthday and Christmas.

Hannah was diagnosed in May of this year with bowel cancer that has caused her immense pain and months of rigorous treatment.

This summer Hannah was ready to move to the US to live and work at a summer camp for three months.

Her ambitions to travel were tragically cut short when she received the devastating news that she had a tumour in her bowel and secondary cancer of the liver.

Refusing to be defeated by her diagnosis, Hannah turned her travel blog into an ‘online diary’ documenting her fight against cancer.

The 19-year-old has been fairly quiet on her usually busy social media accounts and blog while she deals with treatment for bowel cancer.

Now she has posted an update her followers will be happy to see, a video of Hannah, smiling and reassuring everyone that she is still fighting.

In the 10-minute piece to camera Hannah explains to her followers that although she has had a difficult time recently with pain and drowsiness, she is now receiving chemotherapy.

She says: “I’ve finally been given chemo... which is good.

“It’s not good if I’m not on chemo, if I’m on chemo it means that I’m fighting back.”

Hannah is now spending time at The Christie cancer hospital in Manchester after an uncomfortable stay at Clatterbridge.

In particular, Hannah describes with a big smile ‘The Hub’ at The Christie which is where patients can spend time socialising.

Hannah will be celebrating her 20th birthday on December 23 and is hoping she won’t have to spend it, and Christmas, in hospital.

“I don’t want to be in here for my birthday, that would really upset me,” Hannah says to the camera, getting slightly teary eyed before going back to her strong and composed self.

Louise, Hannah’s sister commented under the video showing how much support she has behind her.

The comment reads: “Don’t cry babe!! You’ll come home for your birthday and Christmas and we’ll have the best one EVER, love you to the moon and back.”

Ever the picture of positivity, a smiling Hannah signs off her video assuring her followers that she will be updating them again soon and is hoping to finish her most recent blog post.
