On your marks for our 2016 Santa Sprint!
THE 2016 Southport Santa Sprint is taking place this Sunday December 11, at 11 am. This fun event is open to everyone, young and old, whole families and even pets, so it’s time to get into the Christmas spirit and start your celebrations with our annual festive 2K fun run!
Queenscourt Hospice is proud to be working in partnership with the Silcock Leisure Group on this event, and the team at Silcock’s are also getting involved with of them taking part and others helping out.
Our Santas may also be treated to a festive ride on the fabulous Silcock’s carousel on the day.
Whether you are a seasoned Santa Sprinter or a first-time participant, we look forward to welcoming you; the fun all starts at Southport Pier, next to Silcock’s Carousel, and everyone will then follow a circular 2K route around the Southport Seafront.
Entry costs £10 per adult, Under 16s £7 and a family of two adults and two under 16s is £30.
Everyone taking part will receive their Santa Suit, a special festive medal and a complimentary hot drink.
As a charity Queenscourt Hospice relies on the generous support of the local community to meet our annual operating costs.
We’re not part of the NHS and receive less than a third of our funding from central sources which means we must raise more than £2m each year to keep our doors open and ensure our compassionate care remains free to all who need it.
2016 is a special year for Queenscourt Hospice as we are celebrating our Silver Jubilee, and we would urge as many people as possible to join in with this event to help us reach our target of 400-plus Santas.
Alternatively, if taking part isn’t for you but you’d like to be involved, please consider joining our volunteers’ team: the help of many volunteers is needed to make this event possible.
Last year our generous supporters taking part raised a fantastic £6,773.
This could cover the cost of providing 27 nights of specialist nursing care in a patient’s own home, helping to provide comfort and reassurance.
Many of our patients would choose to be cared for in their own homes – with your support our Queenscourt at Home Team make this possible.
You can sign up to join in the fun on-line at www.queenscourt.org.uk/ santasprint or alternatively call 01704 517420 for further details or to sign up as a volunteer. Event Spotlight
