AUGHTON’S Moor Hall is now taking bookings for the new resturant and hotel.

The Tudor manor is being transformed by double Michelin starred chef Mark Birchall.

It was due to open late this year but will now open on February 1.

Mark, whose previous restaurant, L’Enclume, was featured on the BBC series The Trip, will officially open the doors to Moor Hall next year following a major renovation.

The online booking system is now live, replacing the old site at www.moorhall.com

Prospective guests advised to book early.

Restaurant reservations will be taken for March 1 to May 31 May initially while room reservations will be taken for March 1 until December 31, 2017.

Gift certificates can also be purchased online from today.

Moor Hall on Prescot Road in Ormskirk is a secluded Grade II manor house, believed to date from the 13th century, with separate gatehouse, stables, range of barns, store and garaging all set within gardens, a lake and grounds of five acres.

The 50-seat restaurant will be more modern, with porcelain are floors, and surrounding glass walls giving panoramic views of the property, and featuring adjacent cheese and wine rooms.

A private dining room for up to 12 people will be more intimate, with oak panelling, a handmade oak dining table, and a large fireplace.

The five bedrooms in the main house will be individually designed, featuring open beamed ceilings, the original fireplaces, and luxurious bathrooms.

Two additional bedrooms will be located in the gatehouse nearby, next to the small lake.

The menus will use locally sourced produce and be designed to showcase Mark’s own style of modern British cuisine, reflecting the experience he has gained over the past 15 years.

Mark said that while the renovations were necessary, the most important part of the opening will be the food.

He hopes that people will be able to enjoy the dishes as much as he enjoys creating them.
