Parking boost for festive shoppers
SHOPPERS looking to enjoy their post Christmas sales in Ormskirk have been given a boost by West Lancashire Borough Council.
It has announced that car parking will be free of charge on all council managed pay and display car parks on Monday, December 26; Tuesday, December 27; and Monday, January 2.
There will also be an extra market day in Ormskirk in the run up to Christmas.
The moves are among a number of changes in West Lancs over the Christmas and New Year period.
West Lancashire Borough Council offices at Derby Street, Ormskirk, and in Skelmersdale will close at noon on Friday December 23 and reopen at 9am Tuesday January 3.

Customer services – telephone inquiries
The customer contact centre will close at 12 noon on Friday, December 23 and re-open at 8.30am on Tuesday, January 3. The phone number remains the same for emergency calls when the offices are closed: 01695 577177.

You can still make payments during this period by using the automated telephone payment line available 24 hours a day on 01695 585150 or by visiting the council’s website at www.westlancs.gov. uk . EMERGENCY HOUSING SERVICES Emergency repairs will be carried out over the holiday period and tenants who require an emergency repair should call 01695 577177. For all other housing emergencies (including homelessness), call the same number. Refuse and recycling Over the Christmas and New Year period, collection dates will remain unaffected.

All green bin collections will be suspended for the week commencing December 26 and the week commencing January 2, but other materials for recycling will be collected. Chapel Gallery The gallery will be closed from noon on Saturday, December 24 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 3.
Beacon Park Golf Centre
The centre will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Reduced opening times will be in operation over the festive period. For further information, call 01695 625551.
Car parks – pay and display
Car parking will be free of charge on all council-managed pay and display car parks on Monday and Tuesday, December 26 and 27 and Monday, January 2. Ormskirk Market There will be a market as normal in Ormskirk town centre on Saturday, December 24 and Saturday, December 31. However, they will finish earlier than usual on the day. There will be an extra market on Wednesday, December 21.
