FUNDRAISING EVENTS:
SOME weeks it barely feels like I’m at home; last week has been no exception to this and the forthcoming week seems much the same.
Each year, the mayor is invited by Centrica to visit the postmen before they go out on their rounds during the run up to Christmas.
Last week I visited our hardworking posties in Skelmersdale to find out more about their role and this week I’ll be visiting the postmen in Ormskirk.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been invited to visit the sorting office which covers the northern area of West Lancashire as the post for the Northern Parishes is sorted outside of West Lancashire.
I also had the pleasure of attending a number of carol concerts last week.
The events included one in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool, which BBC Merseyside had organised and which will be broadcast on Christmas Eve.
It was an enjoyable evening and was also raising funds for Children in Need.
On Sunday, I was delighted to attend the Marie Curie Carol Concert in Lathom Chapel, which I had not had the pleasure of visiting before.
It has a rich history and is definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been before.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to inform you of everywhere that I’ve visited this week but I did really enjoy the pantomime that the Pleasure Folk performed on Saturday evening.
Their performance of Beauty And The Beast, was spectacular and was certainly better than any other pantomime that I have seen.
The enjoyment that the cast get from performing shone out throughout the evening.
I’d like to express my thanks to all at the Pleasure Folk for such a lovely evening of entertainment.
Thank you to everyone whom I’ve met during this year for making my mayoral year so enjoyable and I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.
