INSPIRATIONAL teen Hannah Lyson has received the gift of spending her birthday and Christmas at home, just in time for the big week.

Hannah, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this year, has been told that she will be able to go home for her 20th birthday and Christmas day with her family.

Hannah has suffered intense pain and months of rigorous treatment in the hope of beating the aggressive cancer.

This summer she was ready to move to the US to live and work at a summer camp for three months.

But her ambitions to travel were tragically cut short when she received the devastating news that she had a tumour in her bowel and secondary cancer of the liver.

Refusing to be defeated by her diagnosis, Hannah turned her travel blog into an online diary, documenting her fight against cancer.

In her most recent post, she vowed to her thousands of online followers that she would not be spending Christmas in hospital.

Hannah’s dad, Mark, has now given the good news that she will indeed get to spend her birthday on December 23, at home after a much more comfortable weekend in The Christie hospital in Manchester.

He said: “Hannah had quite a good weekend, more settled and her pain was controllable.

“Hannah was desperate to get home for her birthday, and after four weeks in The Christie, and only 10 days at home in the last three months, it was decided that she could be discharged.

“Hannah finally got home. She’s doing well, still lying in bed and very tired, but been eating and does not seem in as much pain. It’s just good having her home.”

Many people have been inspired and touched by Hannah’s journey through 2016 and the community of Burscough have banded together to support her.

More than £50,000 was raised by Tesco stores all around the country to help her fulfil her dream of visiting Disneyland again.

Another £6,000 was raised by Hannah’s “Dream Team”, who organised a massive 14-hour party in her honour.

Party organiser Joe Murphy said that she deserved all the support and love that she has received.

He said: “Hannah has been so strong throughout her journey and the idea to start a blog to document it has been truly inspiring.

“Hannah will never know how many people her blog has helped, it has touched people all over the world.

“To see someone so lovely and kind go through something so awful is so hard for any community, but Hannah deserves the world and we just wanted to help give her that.

“From when I started following Hannah’s journey, she has been so positive, strong and determined to fight and that is something we could all learn something from.

“The ‘Dream Team’ would love to wish Hannah the best birthday and a massive merry Christmas, you deserve it.”
