UPCOMING EVENTS
IHOPE you all had a good Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.
I have certainly benefitted from the break, having had the awful cold that has been doing the rounds, just before Christmas.
From a mayoral perspective, the past few weeks have been very quiet.
On Christmas Day I attended the Evermoor Hub to give my support to the brilliant volunteers who gave up their time to feed those who may have been alone, had they not been open.
I had the pleasure of going out with Margaret Huyton along with the Deputy Mayor to take Christmas dinner to an elderly resident.
The team at the Evermoor hub do a fantastic job, ensuring that vulnerable local residents are fed all year round.
On behalf of the residents that they help, I’d like to give them all a huge thank you for giving up so much of their time to make a difference.
On Friday, I attended the Showman’s Guild annual luncheon.
I was invited to find out more about the guild and the travelling showman that we have in our area.
Many people do not know about the many charitable works that they do.
The mayoral charities have already received a sizeable donation from them following the Christmas lights switch-on in Ormskirk.
The organisers regularly send the profits from this event to the mayoral charities.
Thank you to Silcocks for supporting us in this way.
Tomorrow evening I will be attending my charity committee to plan some of the last events of my mayoral year.
Following the success of our Irish Night last year in Ormskirk, we are holding the event again, but this time in Skelmersdale at the football club.
I do hope that you will consider supporting this event to raise money for Ormskirk neonatal unit, The Birchwood Centre, Ormskirk Civic Hall and the Artz Centre.
