With Cllr Liz Savage

-

THE past week has largely been taken up with arranging or attending charity events!

On Wednesday I met with an old friend who has kindly agreed to arrange an Easter bingo session on behalf of the charity committee.

The bingo will take place on Friday, April 7 at St Anne’s Social Centre, the tickets will be £2 and include light refreshments and a free draw.

On Thursday evening the charity committee met to finalise agreements for the last three months of my mayoral year.

We confirmed then that we will be holding a Tea Dance at The Civic on Thursday, March 30 between 2-4pm.

On Friday evening myself and the Mayoress (daughter Charlotte) attended a ball for the Mayor of Halton’s charities.

We were asked by the High Sherriff of Cheshire if we were Youth Mayors!

We had a lovely evening networking with the Mayors of Merseyside and Cheshire whilst supporting two charities which help people following child bereavement and strokes.

The Mayor of Cheshire East held a civic service on Sunday – which Noel (my consort) and myself attended as she has been very kind towards our charities over the past year.

This was followed by us attending a service organised by the Lancaster Regiment to commemorate the Accrington Pals.

It was a good chance for us to also catch up with mayors from across Lancashire. West Lancashire are in a unique position of having good connections with the Mayors of Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside.

Don’t forget that on April 21 we will be holding a gala event to showcase some of our local talent, which will include a threecourse meal and will be held at Hurlston Hall.

Tickets for any of our events can be bought from either The Civic, or at the council offices at 52 Derby Street from Ann England, who can be contacted on 01695 585033.
