ISPENT a large proportion of Wednesday in Morrisons, Ormskirk collecting for the Mayoral Charities.
It’s the fourth bucket collection that I’ve taken part in for my charities and I always find it an interesting experience.
It gives me the opportunity to talk to so many local residents, who in turn keep me informed of issues that are bothering them.
I picked up a few issues which I fed back to council officers who will now look into them.
It was also a great opportunity to bump into people who I haven’t seen in some cases since I left school, 25 years ago.
A few people commented on how good it was to see the mayor having a hands-on role in the community.
Over the weekend, I visited the Mayor of Cheshire East at one of her fundraising events as she has supported so many of our events.
It was amazing to see how many people were ballroom dancing at the event.
We are holding a similar event which will take place at the Civic Hall on Thursday, March 30, and tickets are £5 which includes afternoon tea.

Sunday saw a general meeting of the Skelmersdale Veterans Association, a new veterans’ group which has started in Skelmersdale.
The group aims to work with local community groups to aid the community generally.
The council supported Commonwealth Day on Monday.
