-

AN ONLINE pharmacy company from Skelmersdale has walked away with the prestigious Online Business Award at Lancashire’s annual Red Rose Awards.

Chemist-4-U stocks a wide range of top brand prescription drugs and delivers them to the doorstep.

Last year the online pharmacy recorded a turnover of £16.9m and it has been ranked the third fastest growing SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) in the country.

Shamir Patel, Chemist4-U’s managing director, said: “It was an honour to be considered for this award and we are all very excited about the opportunities that winning a Red Rose Award brings.

“We’ve always preferred to use local businesses and recruit from the local area, allowing us to expand as a business. We have already set our targets for the next 12 months and they include holding on to this prestigious title.”

Held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, the Red Rose Awards were launched by Lancashire Business View in 2011 to celebrate the success of Lancashire business, ECommerce and industry.

The judging panel described the team at the Skelmersdale business as “great forward thinkers, who are making revolutionary changes to their industry.” Lauren Grice, head of client services at award sponsors Bespoke, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to present Chemist-4-U with the accolade.

“The standard of entries this year was incredibly high and it’s fantastic to see a local business taking the industry by storm.’’

The ceremony hosted over 1,100 guests and the finalists had generated a total of more than £1.35bn in revenue for Lancashire.
