Ormskirk girls hold nerve in fi­nal over

ORMSKIRK School Un­der 13 girls were crowned Lan­cashire cham­pi­ons this week.

Play­ing in the Chance to Shine In­door Cricket Com­pe­ti­tion held at Bolton Arena, or­gan­ised by Lan­cashire Cricket Board, eight teams com­peted for the ti­tle and chance to rep­re­sent the North of Eng­land at the Chance to Shine re­gional fi­nal.

Ormskirk had some close games but qual­i­fied for the fi­nal top of their group, fac­ing Hasling­den High School.

In the last over of the game Ormskirk needed eight runs to win and man­aged it with two balls to spare.

Laura Goff, PE teacher, said: “The girls were fan­tas­tic and played some great cricket, keep­ing their nerve in some very close games.”

115 schools across Lan­cashire started the com­pe­ti­tions and Ormskirk are de­servedly proud of their achieve­ment.
