The great gingerbread gala
PLANS are in place to make this year’s Ormskirk Gingerbread Festival even bigger and better, following the success of last year’s inaugural event.
The event, which is organised and run by Ormskirk Community Partnership (OCP), will be staged in Ormskirk town centre.
Dave Mutch of OCP said: “Last year’s event was fantastic and we’ll be bringing back all the favourites at this year’s event including musicians, magicians, actors and clowns.
“Families can take part in the gingerbread trail around the town centre with some great prizes to be won.”
The Gingerbread Festival is held as part of the town’s historic Saturday market.
It is a celebration of local heritage bringing the community together to enjoy a wide range of street stalls, vintage games, music and entertainment, great activities and fun for all family.
Volunteers are needed and OCP welcomes support in preparing for the festival in the coming months as well as enthusiastic volunteers to help on the day.
Volunteer roles include finding and booking entertainment, publicity, staffing stalls as well as photography on the day.
Organisers are also looking for musicians and performers, face painters, and other family entertainers who can help.
OCP is also asking residents for their memories of Ormskirk.
Did you live in Ormskirk in the 1940s, 50s or 60s? And would you be willing to talk to us or write to us? A meeting can be arranged to talk to you over a cuppa.
Your memories, which can be anonymous, will be part of our Heritage Project and will be available on OCP’s website.
If you can help or would like to contact us with your memories email to suerobinhill@aol.com or phone/text 07896 991090
