POULTRY A temporary suspension on gatherings of some species of birds applies from Tuesday, December 20 2016. The ban applies to chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese but not pigeons or aviary birds. therefore there will be no poultry sales at Chelford or Beeston until further notice. PIGS Porkers average £62.99, cutters average £89.90, baconers average £105.20, overweight average £90.55 SHEEP A weather-affected entry, with only two thirds of last week’s number on offer, proved no bad thing as trade has undoubtedly dipped nationally all week. Large numbers of heavyweight lambs have affected supply and thereby lowering demand across the board, as seen today as nearly half the entry weighed over 46kg. Fourteen loads of haylage sold well enough, with horse quality haylage in particular demand at £72 to £85 per tonne, cattle quality haylage at £40 to £58 per tonne and silage including loose silage £20 to £27 per tonne.
