With Cllr Liz Savage

-

ANOTHER week has flown by and on Wednesday, Noel and I attended an open day at Elm Tree Community Primary School.

It always surprises me how excited the children are to discuss the mayoral role and last week was no exception.

Noel and I toured the school and took part in some of the activities that the children were participating in.

We then had lunch with the children and answered questions about ourselves and the mayoral role.

We both really enjoyed our visit.

Thursday was the tea dance at The Civic for the mayoral charities.

It was a relatively small charity event with approximately 40 people in attendance.

The young people from the Prince’s Trust and the Birchwood Centre kindly provided refreshments for the event, which were thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in organising the event and I believe the final total raised was close to £200.

Following the event, myself and Rachael, a member of the charity committee, went to start the preparations for the bingo which will be held on Friday at St Anne’s Social Centre.

Rachael has done much of the organisation for this event on her own and I’d like to express thanks to her for the amount of time she has given to this.

In the evening Noel and I went to the opening of Miyagi – which has opened in the old Café Bar building on the corner of Derby Street with Railway Road.

The downstairs is a restaurant and the upstairs is a cocktail bar.

Noel and I both had an enjoyable evening and were impressed with the hospitality.

On Saturday I was really pleased to be able to attend an event that members of Ormskirk Bowling Club had organised for the mayoral charities.
