Heroic police officer tackles knife maniac

PC praised as ‘the best of the best’ after thug who injured woman is jailed for seven years

ALANCASHIRE police officer has been commended for his bravery after he tackled a violent thug brandishing a 10in knife.

PC Ben Barnes was called to a house in West Lancashire, where he found a woman with knife injuries to her face and leg, and selflessly rushed in to disarm her attacker.

The High Sheriff of Merseyside, James Davies, OBE, described PC Barnes as “a hero, the best of the best”. Full story - page 13
