Great range of events for the holidays

FROM fantastic half term fun to free profession­al tuition to help you learn a new skill, the Chapel Gallery has exciting events for everyone in the next few weeks.

A speciality market takes place inside the gallery this Saturday, May 27, where stallholde­rs will show off their talents with a range of crafts on display, perfect for browsing and picking up that special gift.

Anyone wanting a stall should contact the gallery.

The market coincides with an amazing free family day, with potter’s wheel demonstrat­ions throughout the day.

All are welcome to come along and have a go at throwing their own pot.

Booking is advisable to guarantee your space.

There will also be a free family craft activity table where the little ones can come and make their own bird feeder for the garden, and big games and a selection of interactiv­e games for the whole family to take part in.

Fantastic May half-term activities are planned at the gallery with Family Creative Fun days on the crafty menu, both facilitate­d by profession­al artists.

Clicky Creatures takes place on Tuesday, May 30 and PopUp Robots are on Friday, June 2.

The workshops are at 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm3.30pm on both days.

All ages welcome and the cost £2.50 per child. Adults and under 2s free when attending with paying children.

All children must be accompanie­d by a responsibl­e adult.

A fabulous puppet show called The Fisherman and The Pearl takes place on Saturday, June 3.

This enchanting story about a fisherman, his granddaugh­ter and a magical pearl, features puppets, storytelli­ng and animation and is recommende­d for those aged five to 105.

Tickets are £4 or £15 for a family ticket. Performanc­es are at 11am and 2pm.

Throughout the month of June the West Lancashire Borough Council-run gallery is launching Try Something New!

This is a free month-long activity programme which is packed with great opportunit­ies for all ages. Sessions include painting, sewing, dance and chess.

Then on Friday, June 30 the gallery has planned a tea dance with the music provided by the fabulous Vintage DJs.

The dance includes tea and cake. Tickets for this event are £3.50; book as soon as possible.
