Young stars capture faith
THE Liverpool Archdiocese Secondary Schools’ Partnership held this year’s Student Photographic competition at St George’s Hall in Liverpool – and a Skelmersdale school was thrilled to be successful.
The theme for the entries ‘We are valued, we are unique, we have faith and we are the future’ challenged students to produce photographs that encompassed spirituality within their own school.
Each photograph required a short description interpreting the theme to go alongside the exhibit.
Studetns of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Glenburn Road did a wonderful job creating their images, resulting in two entries – one in the Year 7-9 category and one in the older students category.
As a school community they are delighted that their Year 10 photographers, Ellie Kerr and Carly Dutton won the first prize.
The final photo was a portrait of everyone in the class, combined into one overlapped image, which intended to show the diversity that makes them who they are.
They were further delighted when the Year 7 entry won third place for its image based on the work of Caravaggio.
The theme was to explore the light and presence of God in us all.
Anya Peet-Draycott and Leila Ujlab received the prize.
The entries exhibited in the Heritage Centre were placed first and third from all 37 schools and colleges in the Liverpool Diocese.
Headteacher Miss Knight commented: “We are incredibly proud of their photographic talents and how they had the insight to represent spirituality in our school in such a perceptive and original way.
“Congratulations and well done to our wonderful students.”
