Website aims to promote the very best town has to offer
A NEW website has been launched to help local people and visitors find out more about Ormskirk and the surrounding West Lancashire area.
The site, www. discoverormskirk.com has a host of valuable information about the area, with details of places to visit, shop, eat and drink.
The Ormskirk Town Centre Management Group has set up the website to help tackle a key challenge identified in the town centre strategy, which was the lack of a comprehensive website to promote Ormskirk.
The new site will act as a showcase for the town, promoting shops, bars and restaurants as well as events and activities taking place in the town centre and surrounding area.
There is information on the popular Ormskirk Market as well as the variety of shops, restaurants and bars in the town.
There are also pages devoted to attractions such as the Chapel Gallery and places in the wider area, including Burscough Wharf, Rufford Old Hall and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Centre at Martin Mere.
Visitors can also find out about the wide range of outdoor activities they can enjoy in West Lancashire.
Cllr Ian Moran, leader of West Lancashire Borough Council and portfolio holder for economic regeneration, said: “Attracting more visitors to Ormskirk will help boost the local economy which helps everyone, making an impact on the need to create and maintain jobs and keep the town centre vibrant and exciting.
“Clearly there is a lot of interest in the town as figures from Google show that there are around 18,100 searches a month on Ormskirk, so this new website will provide everything people need to enjoy their visit to the town.
“Local residents will also find the website very interesting in uncovering some hidden gems, so please take a look.”
The website also contains information on the Ormskirk town centre strategy and the management group.
